Whether or not we like to admit it, we all have fears. There are things so horrifying to us that even the mention of them can make our skin crawl, our mouths dry, and our bladders seriously consider evacuating themselves. It's not always rational, though sometimes it is - if you live in Australia, a healthy fear of spiders could save your life, just as if you work in certain offices, you have to be very careful what you say or do in order not to incur the wrath of your evil boss.
Still, the important thing with fears is not to let them control your life. It's OK to be afraid of things, but if you are so scared of flying that you can't travel the world or see family members who live abroad, then it might be time to get into a therapist's office or look into meditating or other methods to keep a lid on it. The most important part of that process, of course, is figuring out exactly what the underlying fear is. It might not really be about heights or closed spaces or deep water.
